Denmark's 2011 Index:Award Winners were announced in August and the awardees this year were as exciting as ever. Launched in 2002, INDEX: is a Danish-based nonprofit focused on improving the lives of people worldwide. The biennial INDEX:Award offers the largest cash design prize in the world (worth €500,000) in five categories: Body, Home, Work, Play, and Community. The 2011 winners include eyeglasses by See Better to Learn Better - VerBien (Mexico), social housing by ELEMENTAL Monterrey (Mexico), a student design competition by Design for Change (India), a cycling airbag by Hövding (Sweden), and the "design caringly for citizens" approach of Design Seoul (South Korea).
