Cocktail Astronomy | Remembering Carl Sagan

Here at Future-ish, we love astronomy and we love cocktails. So to prep our fans (and ourselves) for those stellar weekend cocktail conversations, we are pleased to offer our Cocktail Astronomy post each Friday.

This week we remember one of our heroes here at Future-ish, Carl Sagan, who would have turned 77 on November 9th. If any recent scientist is likely to come up during a cocktail conversation, it is very likely to be Carl Sagan. Many know him from the PBS Series and accompanying book Cosmos and for being the mind behind the 1997 blockbuster film, Contact. The man who made turtlenecks tres chic was also, and more importantly, a legendary science popularizer, astronomer, astrophysicist, cosmologist, and author. Sagan's research and work in the media inspired many emerging minds when he was alive and continues to inspire many today. Here's one of our favorite Sagan quotes:
"Not explaining science seems to me perverse. When you're in love, you want to tell the world."
