First Rocky Planet Discovered

1.10.11 - Scientists at NASA have confirmed the discovery of the first rocky planet outside our planet, Kepler-10b. It is far from habitable as it orbits far to close to its sun to support life as we know it. But, as the first rocky exoplanet discovered, it demonstrates that there are other rocky planets like Earth out there, perhaps even some in the 'habitable zone' that could support life as we currently know it.
