Innovation labs are popping up all over the place these days. I was pleasantly surprised to see that one of my previous career stops, Seattle-based fashion retailer Nordstrom, had gotten in the game. Although I have many fond memories of Nordstrom, learned a ton, and still consider it to have been formative in many of my business and life philosophies (the inverted pyramid management model for example) this isn't something that I think would have been created back in my day. The Nordstrom Innovation Lab
is all about new technologies, lean manufacturing, and human-centered design so is sure to turn out some fantastic new concepts and solutions. It was my experience creating an early Sustainable Business & Development program at Nordstrom that evolved into the META Performance Framework
that Future-ish now offers in our services portfolio. Given that I'm still a HUGE Façonnable fan, touché Nordstrom!
