See Spectrum | Reimagined Lord of the Rings Covers
Our affection for spectrums never ends. This latest find is one of the most creative. This Behance contribution by Matthieu Jeanson offers new covers for the Lord of the Rings series that features a minimalist ring and color gradients that complement each other while also relating to the storyline within.
See Spectrum | Faena Hotel Miami
It has been a while since we added to our See Spectrum Collection, but the lounge at the Faena Hotel Miami was too good to pass up. The hotel was designed by Argentinean hotelier Alan Faena and it brings his "Creating Utopias" perspective straight to Miami Beach.
A Spectrum of Scientists, a Rainbow of Researchers

Discovering that visible light is made up of a spectrum of colors is one of the first and most inspiring things we learn in science. That same spectrum of colors is then used throughout many fields of science to help us understand our world.
To celebrate LGBT Pride Month (aka Gay Pride), we put together a post with information and resources by, for, and about the LGBTQA community and science, technology, engineering, and math (aka STEM). As far as we're concerned, there is and always be a little ROYGBIV in all science. Lucky for us, the world of STEM is as diverse as any other community.

See Spectrum | The Present Clock
We're quite sure that The Present Clock should win some sort of international award. This annual clock designed by Scott Thrift offers a new way to appreciate time...slowly, over the course of a full year. Gone or the anxious modern world tied to hours, minutes, and seconds. With The Present Clock, our perception of time is expanded and we get a chance to enjoy the moment.
The Present Clock is a great addition to our See Spectrum collection. It allows us to enjoy and appreciate the full spectrum of the seasons and our lives. We're looking forward to the wrist-watch version...hint, hint.
Kernel of Life
Wired Magazine recently partnered with The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to conceptualize several world-Changing healthcare products. Wired then turned to several industrial design firms to help bring the concepts to life.
One of our favorites is the Kernel, developed in partnership with FuseProject. Kernel is a wearable technology that offers embedded medical tests for blood, saliva, urine and breath to address challenges of diagnosing and treating illnesses in healthcare-scarce parts of the world. Once completed, test results and ongoing data can be transmitted through mobile devices to providers who can then communicated pack to patients and local providers.
SeeSpectrum | Nike's #BETRUE Collection
Our SeeSpectrum project just got a little more fabulous. In June 2013, Nike launched their #BETRUE Collection in celebration of sport as a universal language. For nearly 15 years, Nike has partnered with the LGBT community to raise awareness of LGBT issues in athletics. All profits from the collection will be donated to the LGBT Sports Coalition to support the goal of ending discrimination in sports. The #BETRUE collection includes flip flops, tees, tanks, and an iPhone 5 case.
If that's not fab enough, the launch of #BETRUE coincides with Nike's 2013 LGBT Sports Summit, the second round of the annual event which brings together leaders from across the LGBT sports movement.

DIY Rainbow
Our favorite carpet tile maker strikes again. This time Flor lands squarely in our See Spectrum collection. Flor has long been the master of mixing and matching carpet tiles to create completely new design, textures, and concepts in floor coverings. With their Made you Look line and simple design tools there is no limit to the carpet square creations you can dream up.
See Spectrum | Saguaro Palm Springs
We never thought we'd be able to add a hotel to our See Spectrum collection but we are so excited that we can. The recently opened Saguaro Palm Springs is catching the eye of many savvy travelers and travel magazines, from Dwell to Condé Nast. We like it because of the prismatic colors of course, but we hear that the spa, restaurants, and other amenities make the Saguaro quite appealing as well. We can't wait to stay.
Brainy Love Blankets
At last, the perfect gift for the geeky girl or boy in your love life. The Love Blanket by British designer Holly Berry offers a full spectrum of color and is woven in a 250 year old Scottish mill. Best of all, the intricate pattern spells out "love" in Morse code.
See Spectrum | NPG Everyday Napkins
Gathering around a table with friends and family is a staple in cultures around the world. Now you can bring a little science and modern design into the mix with these spectrum-inspired reclaimed linen napkins. NPG Everyday Napkins by Portland-based Alder & Co offer exactly that with their neon piping.

See Spectrum - The Cool Hunter's take on Virgin Atlantic
We just confirmed that the color spectrum is without a doubt a timeless trend in futuristic design. How do we know this you ask? We know this because it is not only splashed all over The Cool Hunter website, it is actually integrated into their logo. The Cool Hunter's latest design coup via their agency, Access, is fresh look for the fleet at Virgin Atlantic. Most importantly, it is a great new addition to our See Spectrum project.
See Spectrum - Color splash

See Spectrum: Montana travel advert
Another addition to the See Spectrum Project. I've seen this and many other photos promoting travel to Montata on billboards and busses lately and given my fetish for the color spectrum in pop art, this one in particular caught my eye. What's great about this image is that the colors are natural. And...its an extra bonus if your a geology geek like me.
See Spectrum: Science Magazine
Science Magazine cover, 26 February 2010. Another entry for my See Spectrum Project.
Rosetta Project
Images by Spencer Lowell. Spearheaded by the Long Now Foundation, the Rosetta Project digitizes the world's languages - almost 2,500 of them so far - into a library for current and future generations...all in a four inch nickel disk housed in a glass and stainless steel sphere.
Colorful cables

We love it when form and function come together in a great product, when technology and good design combine to give us cool new gadgets. We found it all in LaCie's new Flat Cables. Great colors, easily identifiable interfaces, and they coil up like a charm. A cable just isn't a cable any more!
