Business of Design Week 2008: Dec 8-13: Hong Kong

Every year in December, the Hong Kong Design Center gathers a vast collection of global designers to host Business of Design Week (BODW), considered Asia's leading design event on innovation, design and brand. According to the BODW website: "More than 50,000 participants and over 100 of the world's most iconic designers, business leaders and educators attend bodw to share their success stories, exchange ideas, and network in an event nobody can afford to miss. The goal of bodw is to encourage businesses to unleash the power of design by focusing on the vital relationship and complex interplay between design and business". This year's conference goes even further into the social design realm with discussions like "Quake Solutions" on how design can help places like the Sichuan region of China to recover from major disasters and "Culture and City" regarding the development of Kowloon Cultural District Project as a destination for arts and culture in Hong Kong. The BODW partner country in 2008 is The Netherlands, which will infuse the Dutch perspective on innovation, modernity, and sustainability into BODW
