The US Geological Survey (USGS) recently launched a very cool interactive online tool, Streamer. By simply clicking on a river or stream on the map, users can trace the upstream and downstream paths of waterways. Some are quite surprising, whether it is because you had know idea that a local stream started where it did or it is because you had no idea the amount and breadth of waterways that contribute to a waterway...such as the Missisipi River pictured above.
